My name is Phil Heighway and I am a true Staffordshire native. My life revolves around my family, my passion for sports, and my newfound love for photography. In the past few years, I have developed my way of capturing moments through my lens. Whenever I go out for walks, I am accompanied by my beloved dog Poppy, who not only brings joy to my life but also serves as the perfect subject for my photography. This arrangement allows me to enjoy two of my favourite things simultaneously.

It all began with a simple desire to capture the precious moments of my newly born daughter, prompting me to pick up my first camera. Little did I know that this small step would evolve into a profound passion for photography, transforming moments into lasting memories.

During the lockdown, as life slowed down, I found solace and inspiration in the simple act of walking my companion, Poppy. Armed with my camera, I began to explore the art of photography, focusing on landscapes, woodlands, and the enchanting world of wildlife. This journey has not only become a creative outlet but also a continuous exploration of the craft and artistry behind each image.

Unlike my school days where art wasn't my forte, photography has emerged as a new and unexpected avenue for self-expression. Immersed in nature, I find joy in capturing the intricate beauty of the world around me, delving into the technical aspects of the craft, and learning the art of storytelling through images.

Although limited by budget constraints, I've come to realize that gear isn't everything. Photography is about the connection between the photographer and the subject, the emotion captured in each frame, and the stories told through the lens. Engaging with fellow photographers, attending workshops, and constantly learning from others has been an integral part of my journey.
